What do the EPAAs mean to publishers?

The EPAAs aim to set a benchmark for excellence, celebrating industry innovation and high quality pedagogical content, but aside from a nice night out with colleagues and maybe even a shiny trophy for the cabinet in reception, what do the awards really mean to publishers?

ncl_logoIn 2013 the PM Oral Literacy series won an award for the Primary Student Resource – English and was the joint winner of the Outstanding Book of the Year. It was a fantastic achievement to receive this honour and be recognised by our publishing peers. Everyone who was involved in creating the series felt incredibly proud.

OUPThe Educational Publishing Awards Australia is the industry’s major annual awards event and provides publishers with the opportunity to showcase the very best educational publishing has to offer. Every year, for the 21 years the awards have been in existence, the quality of the entries is truly excellent, so to win or be short listed in any one of the categories is valued enormously by recipients.

    Everyone says that awards don’t mean anything but every industry should celebrate its achievements. Now in their mammoth 21st year, the Educational Publishing Awards Australia provides the opportunity to stop and reflect on these achievements by recognising the range, quality and innovation that defines Education Publishing in the 21st century.
    Last year’s win for Viscomm: A Guide to Visual Communication Design VCE Units 1-4, gave the whole publishing team a sense of pride and achievement. We were delighted just to be shortlisted but the win was a testament to everything we had achieved in that past year.
